This reminds me of an interesting novel I read about
counter-terrorism by Tom Clancy entitled "Rainbow Six" there were
some environmental kooks in the book that decided they wanted to wipe
out most of humanity for the good of the planet, to allow nature to
heal itself. So, they engineered a strain of the Ebola virus to wipe
out the planet's human population, only allowing the Mike Vandemans
of the world to survive...

I suppose we can all be grateful that the only thing Mike really does
is post his drivel on usenet, instead of committing mass murder on a
planetary scale. I mean, things could be worse.

Well, he DOES disappear for the odd week now and then. (And I /do/ mean
