If you have a longer than average torso, you might not be comfortable in bibs since the straps typically are not adjustable. If you wear your jersey over the bibs, then heeding calls of nature can be more complicated. Other than that, they can be more comfy without the waistband causing problems. It's just like how suspenders can be more comfy (not to mention effective at their intended purpose) on regular pants than belts, but belts are more convenient. I guess that's the trade off for me--comfort vs. convenience. -- I do not accept unsolicted commercial e-mail. Remove NO_UCE for legitimate replies. |

snip question
The only drawback is that it is (as mentioned by another poster) slightly more difficult to dump but whizzing isn't a big deal (for men). Do they make women's bibshorts (semi-rhetorical)? And if you carry a slight tire (like I do) and are slightly vain(again,...)the lack of a waist level encircling band of elastic makes for a less "overstuffed sausage" figure as well as removing a possible source of chafing. Luckily for me, the shoulder straps on all my bibs (except for a pair of Cannondale insulated bibtights) fit me perfectly. I must be averagely proportioned. Bibs - if they fit. I'll never buy shorts again. App |

Adrian ´ Bibs seem to keep the comfort pads in place a whole lot better than waist pants. As others have mentioned whizzing is not a problem, even on the bike if you ever need to master that art ![]() As for the shoulder straps, that's easy enough to figure out if they'll fit or not when you try them out at the store. -- Perre I gave up on SPAM and redirected it to hotmail instead. |

No experience with bib shorts. Would like feedback on +/-'s of both types asap. Going to buy one or the other soon. My belly doesn't hang over the bibs - they cradle it instead. OTOH, the bibs get a little too warm for some kinds of riding. OTOOH, I can just shrug off the shoulders and tuck them in.... If I had to go one way or the other, I'd go with bibs. One variation between bibs is the amount of rise - i.e. how much material comes above the waist band before turning into shoulder straps. Personally, I'd go for minimal rise. -- PeteCresswell |

oups.com... Do they make women's bibshorts (semi-rhetorical)? Women tend to wear something closer to sleeveless or sleeved body suits, as there can be issues with the placement of the straps on bib shorts -- do they go around the breasts, or smoosh them down? An example of a sleeveless body suit from the Terry catalog is below: http://www.terrybicycles.com/detail....item_no=1 942 -- Warm Regards, Claire Petersky please substitute yahoo for mousepotato to reply Home of the meditative cyclist: http://home.earthlink.net/~cpetersky/Welcome.htm Personal page: http://www.geocities.com/cpetersky/ See the books I've set free at: http://bookcrossing.com/referral/Cpetersky |

The straps on bibs will make your nipples sore.
