Disc Brake Retrofits - A2Z Disc Brake Adaptor
I'd like to fit the rear of my bike with a disc brake but I don't have the
lugs (1 year newer and I'd be fine - phooey!) I found an adapter that claims (of course) to work well but nobody and no bike shops local to me know anything about it. I'm wondering if there's anyone here who's tried it and/or has an opinion on it, good/bad/indifferent? Details: A2Z DM-UNI Universal Disc Brake Mount Adapter http://www.discbrakeadapters.com/fs_....php?item_id=4 Thanks in advance. AC |

If you've already spent all the money on brakes and hubs, 40 extra bucks doesn't really register. However, the majority of braking is done with the front brake. A disk brake on the rear is more weight and money, and for very little benefit. If you use your rear more than your front (brakes, that is), then you probably should review your technique. In the final analysis, a rear disk just isn't enough of an improvement in overall braking to spend any extra money on, IMNSHO. E.P. |

Thanks. But I was hoping to get an opinion on the adaptor in question from
(hopefully) someone who has tried it. Is it as good as the maker says it is? I'm not looking to get into a discussion on v-brakes vs disc. Performance-wise, I find a v-brake in back more than enough until I get into the thick mud around home that just loves to clog up the v-brake arms and blocks. I've looked on mtbr.com, but can find no reviews. AC "Vic" wrote in message ... I'd agree with this - I just put a Kona p2 fork on my "road" bike (marin mill valley) so I can use hope mini at the front. I don't see any pressing need to replace the v's at the rear since they are my "backup" brakes. |
