I ordered a new rear mech from them yesterday afternoon - excellent price
and delivery included. Got an email saying it was being dispatched at the
end of yesterday, and a very wet and miserable looking postman knocked on my
door this morning with the part. Excellent service I have to say. I don't
know how many people use CRC, but I had to post to say that on this basis
they will have gained a returning customer.
Now all I have to do is fit the new rear mech!!

I'm a stupid man.

I too ordered recently from Chain Reation. I want to change my
26x1.75 Marathon Plus tyres for 26X1.35 Marathon Plus tyres for my
tour along the Rhine and Mosel rivers.

I ordered the tyre and *one* duely arrived this morning - duh! I've
now ordered a second, at 10am, and will report when it arrives.

I'm stunned by the value for money offered by:
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=22667
The original price was £7.99, then £4,99 and now £3.99.

It is a great carrier light, and incredible value for money. The auto
mode is a worthless gimmick, but you can override that function and
have a great rear light at minimal expense.

Oooh, thanks for that pointer and review. The B+M one on birdy is very
annoying, and for 4 quid I can just try this one see if it works any better.

cheers,

If you put the old ones on e bay give us a tip-off to it please, unless
the soft stuff is showing. Students go back soon.

They are too good to sell - I'll be hanging on to them and using them
when a wider lower pressure tyre is of benefit - for example when I
leave continental bike paths behind and return to Sustrans.

Ah - another unhappy experience of Sustrans paths! Like the one running
out of Lincoln towards Bardney where it's surfaced in a sharp, flinty
sort of shale "because it blends in with the environment". From a
distance of more than about 3 yards it looks like tarmac, so why didn't
they tarmac it? Oh, and the random chicanes made from old railway
ballast cunningly disguised in the same colour as the path "to add
interest". Oh, it adds interest alright if you plough into one!

I used to see a lot of Wiggle boxes at work but now see quite a few
CRC boxes. I think Wiggle ditched us for A. N. Other carrier for at
least some of their stuff.

Folk may slag us off but we know where everywhere is and have a
collection office in most places - you don't have to go halfway across
the county to pick up your stuff if you were out, or in the shower,
whatever. The only down side is that we don't open them for long
enough. My own one is mornings only which is tough when you work for
Royal Mail :-(

They're in competition with Wiggle (and others) and any other site that
does any decent volume of sales has decent customer service so they need
to match it to compete (same with the other online retaillers).

Wiggle now use Citylink quite a lot I think, which is a shame, because
if you live in an area where the local franchise[*] is sub par they're
the worst courier company on God's earth. I'll avoid buying from
companies completely if I know the goods are arriving by Citylink,
just because it's cheaper and more satisfying to stick forks in my
eyes.`

Royal Mail are still my first preference for deliveries - they manage
to deliver more often than the rest and when they don't then the local
office is within walking distance - but I'm slighly forced to
re-evaluate that in the last two weeks as you've apparently managed to
lose my new bike frame :-(

-dan
[*] I know, they're not actually franchises any more. They're still
no more accountable to the rest of the organisation than when they
were, in my experience.

Could be with Parcel Farce. We sometimes get their packages so they
might get ours. Something as big as a frame should be hard to actually
lose unlike those child benefit CDs.
