Default downtube shifters on racebar?

There are shifterpods wich make it possible to mount downtube and barend
shifters on flat mtb bars.
But the diameter of these pods are to small to fit them on roadbars (?).
Would it be possible to use clampon downtube shifters on a roadbar next
to the stem?

You might try to find a set of stem shifters from the 1970's and adapt
the downtube shifters to them, these things were often found on bikes
when "Suicide" extension brake levers were in common use. They mounted
on the vertical portion of a quill stem.

The Kelly Take Off might be a better approach.

"Kelly Take Offs" are a clamp system available from
Rivendell to do just that.

Or, if you are a cheapskate, just use normal $10 top
shifters with steel clamps and a longer mounting screw.

No, you can't do that. The clamp for the shifters is much larger than
most handlebars, and downtube shifters don't have a stop for cable
housing.

Kelly Take-Offs are about your only alternative.

Jeff
