I know a fair number of cops and ex-cops, mostly as riding buddies.
Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've never had a hint that any of these guys
were corrupt.

I've encountered a couple of very ignorant cops. But what's that saying?
"Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by
stupidity."
