please help! child seat won't fit on Jamis 3.0
Anybody out there able to give me advice?
I bought a Co-Pilot Limo (rear) child seat for my wife but I can't install the rack which the seat rests on. The problem is that the "extenders" that secure the rack to the bike's seat stays don't fit right because the seat stays are lower than the top clearance of the rear tire. Solutions (other than return the child seat)? Should I bend the extenders to fit flat with the rack and still meet up with the seat stays, or is that stupid? Other? Many thanks. Jeff |

That's how it's done. If in doubt, have a shop do it, as your cargo's a little more precious than most. |

Jeff It's quite common to have to do some re-engineering in order to mount racks, including bending brackets or fabricating new brackets. Not sure what rack you have, but you can buy longer brackets from Jannd that will work on many racks, "http://www.jandd.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=FEXT" Also see "http://thetouringstore.com/TUBUS/Fit%20Solutions/FIT%20SOLUTIONS%20PAGE.htm" for Tubus rack solutions that may work on other racks as well. |

Yeah I would only say to definitely make sure that it is fixed correctly as you don't want to find out it isn't whilst you are riding away from your child who has fallen out!
I would definitely suggest getting a shop to do it as they will be trained in this kind of thing and youcan cycle in peace of mind Quote:
