At 38 I got back into unicycling and started muni, then trials, then
street over the last 12 months. For my 40th I asked my wife for a pair
of five ten impact 2 high boots, a roll of griptape and a Creepy
Crawler.

I know she's worried, but I'm not sure why

I wonder if any 20 year olds have ever made a plan that carried into
their 40s, or even 30s... other than choosing a college or maybe buying
a car. I wonder if any 20 year olds have any clue what it's like to be
40.

Its great to see riders in their 40s and 50s tearing it up like some of
the hardcore dudes we get to see at CMW and Moab. I'm very hopeful that
my body is in the right shape, and my life is in the right order to
continue such activity, but if life has taught me anything, it's that
I'll never know what's going to happen tomorrow.

Sure - but it's still fun to hear what they think.

As for me, I'm going to ride until I can't any more.

I think the "bug" (the fun) is from trying stuff that seems impossible
and then getting it. If I get to a point where I don't get that reward
any more, cause I can't make any more progress, then I'd probably lose
the bug.

So far there doesn't appear to be any end in sight. Every new trick or
skill takes me a while, but I eventually get it.

I know I'll keep at this awhile! I could ride my mountain bike today.
OMG, it was like being 8 again. I love it! But I kinda wanted to
bounce up and down on it. I guess what I'm saying is I know the uni
will be 10 times more fun. If all I could do was bounce on it, that
would be pretty cool still. I just dont want to ever grow up in
this sense.

I'm going to be riding until I'm to old to do so or until I get tired of
it.

I didn't learn to ride until I was 31 in college and now I teach unis in
PE. And since I am on the teach-til-you-die program, I will probably
ride until they bury me in my worn out shorts.

I see lots of avid mtbers well into their 60's and even 70's on the
trails quite often. They aren't necessarily doing big drops but they are
riding fairly technical terrain, and going the distance with their
younger counterparts. Yes, doing the same thing on just one wheel would
be much more of a challenge at that age, but I can still see myself
still riding close to my current level for at least another 20 years!

( Probably won't be doing stuff like in my avatar at 70 though, lol!)
