July's NYC Critical Mass Ride
http://nyc.indymedia.org/newswire/di...8645/index.php
When: Friday, July 30th, 2004 at 7:00pm Whe Union Square, North It's the last Friday of the month again! Time to hop on your bikes, skates, scooters, and anything else without a motor and take to the streets for a nonpolluting celebration! Just like every other month -- but also unlike every month. Each ride is what you make it. So in addition to your bikes, skates, scooters, etc., bring your ideas and creations. Or just your sweet self. Critical Mass in Manhattan is the last Friday of every month. Critical Mass, an international event held in almost 400 cities around the world, occurs on the last Friday of every month when bicyclists spontaneously come together to ride the ordinarily car-clogged streets of their cities. (There's a brand new Critical Mass in Brooklyn on the second Friday of every month, but more about that in, oh, say, two weeks.) Critical Mass focuses on the rights of bicyclists and the rights of pedestrians on their own streets. It also brings attention to the deteriorating quality of life -- starting with the toxic levels of air and noise pollution -- that cars create for cities. This month, Chicago is trying to push for 3000 riders, a lot of publicity and flyers have gone out for this month ride. -- Bob Kastigar; Home: http://www.neiu.edu/~rkastiga Work: http://www.wgntv.com School: http://www.neiu.edu Play: http://www.neiu.edu/~stagectr Union: http://www.ibew1220.org (Chicago, IL USA) "Sweet Old Bob" (or just the initials) |
