This seems related to the disease that was reported killing trees in
California last year.
Alien invader that is believed to be spread by HIKERS.
They walk, their footwear picks up the spores and spreads them throughout
the forest.

MV won't want to discuss this though because hikers can and do walk anywhere
spreading death
with their boots whereas bikes tend to stay on the trail which would allow
easy containment and
disinfection of the spores and/or other micro-organisms by forest management
personnel.

Perhaps in the future, in order to preserve our majestic woodlands, bikes
will be the required
mode of transportation through all wooded areas. It would make sense in
many ways.

Surely he will find a "link" to mountain bikers. Maybe the fungus came
from the dirty cell phones of off road cyclists.

But since mountain bikers travel several times as far as hikers, they
are several times as likely ot be the culprit.

I am working on creating wildlife habitat that is off-limits to
humans ("pure habitat"). Want to help? (I spent the previous 8
years fighting auto dependence and road construction.)

Please don't put a cell phone next to any part of your body that you are fond of!

Funny how Vandersplam naturally gravitated toward fanciful speculation -
the playground of the
ignorant and uneducated.
