Colorado Springs has died in a mountain biking accident.

Sixty-8-year-old Ron Wisner died when he crashed his mountain bike
Friday on a trail near Larkspur.

Wisner was dean of students at UCCS from 1979 to 2003.

THE MORNING REPORT
Friday, April 30, 2010

Zion National Park (UT)
Two Rafters Drown In Virgin River

On Sunday, April 25th, rangers received a report of an overdue
party from a float trip down though the Virgin River Narrows.
Investigation revealed that two 23-year-old men from Las Vegas
had hiked into the Narrows with the intent of constructing a
log raft and floating approximately 50 miles through the Narrows
to Hurricane, Utah. The men were not equipped with wetsuits or
PFDs, did not have whitewater rafting experience, and had limited
camping experience, little food and no overnight gear. They told
their father that they intended to record their entire trip on
video camera as an entry into the “Man vs. Wild” competition.
The SAR operation concluded on April 26th when both bodies and
a small amount of personal gear were recovered from the river.

Mountain biking is promoted as a safe and family friendly activity. Rafting
down a raging river is not.

Why are you comparing apples with oranges?

How is it not true? You stated that a person who rode to a bank on a
mountain bike and robbed the bank was a mountain biker. You probably
rode for a longer period of time than the bank robber so you are most
definitly a mountain biker.

Are you saying that because you didn't rob a abnk when you rode a
mountain bike you're not a mountain biker?

You are irrelevant to any conversation here. Just keep waving your
arms and throwing your tantrums in the background, no one cares.

Two critically injured in accident
Girl, 4, grandfather taken by Flight for Life copters

BY DENISE LOCKWOOD

A 4-year-old girl and her grandfather were critically injured
after being struck by a car on 85th Street at 17th Avenue at
6:09 p.m. Sunday.

Makaia Curi, 4, of Kenosha, was riding a tricycle. Her grandfather,
Brent McCullough, was standing next to her on the northwest corner
of the intersection when a Mazda jumped the curb and struck them.

Makaia was taken to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee
and is reported to be in critical but stable condition, according
to press release from the Kenosha Police Department.

McCullough was treated and released from Froedtert Hospital in
Milwaukee, according to a hospital official.

Ralph Gonzalez, 29, of Chicago, was cited for failing to yield
the right of way, according to a report by the Kenosha Police
Department.

It is unknown if Gonzalez will face any further charges.

Gonzalez, who had just stopped at a stop sign, was driving the
Mazda 3 northbound on 17th Avenue when it collided with an Audi
A4, which was heading westbound on 85th Street.

“The adult male (McCullough) was thrown clear of the car, and the
child was pinned under the car and then dragged to middle of the
lawn under the car,” said Matt Haerter, battalion chief with the
Kenosha Fire Department.

A woman, who had been talking to Makaia and McCullough just before
the incident, heard the crash. She said she ran to the scene and
Gonzalez and several other people were trying to lift the car off
of Makaia, who had a severe brain injury.

When rescue personnel arrived, the car was still partially on the girl.

“We did find the child mostly extricated from the vehicle,” Haerter said.

Two Flight for Life helicopters were called to take both the girl and
her grandfather to Milwaukee hospitals for treatment. Both helicopters
landed at the Kenosha County Job Center parking lot, 8600 Sheridan Road.

All of the occupants of the vehicles declined medical attention.

You always reduce the conversation to the lowest possible level. You
are too narrow-minded to appreciate someone as creative as Ed. All you
are doing is just embarrassing yourself, over and over....
