A messenger's average miles a day?

Hello,

Do any of you cyclists know how many miles a day a bike messenger
rides on an average day?

With gasoline prices so high, I'm sure bicycle delivery is becoming a
lot bigger. Do you have any bike messenger services in your area?

How about trike-messengers?

I was a bike courier for 4 years; I averaged about 65kms a day, with
highs over 100kms and lows about 30-40kms- the waiting around between
calls was a real killer, taking 8 hours to ride a 2 hour distance you
can see theres a lot of time wasted between calls and waiting for
elevators etc etc.

On the contrary, the messenger business has been shrinking rapidly.
Bread and butter was court filings which have gone electron in recent
years.
