Hike/bike trail gets transportation award
THE ENQUIRER

Anderson Township's new 2.5-mile hike/bike trail, called the Five Mile Trail,
has received special recognition from the American Society of Highway Engineers.

The project was awarded the 2006 Donald C. Schramm Transportation Improvement
Award in the category of projects with a construction cost of more than $2
million.

The trail, which will open later this spring, will be the spine for more than 10
miles of sidewalks and bike trails

I suppose somebody has to ask why a 2.5 mile trail is called the Five Mile
Trail.

(Because wheels are round, it's the round-trip mileage that counts?)

Actually, I think it's supposed to eventually get longer (a WHOLE LOT
longer, as a matter of fact... it's a planned link of The Ohio To Erie
bike trail!). Still doesn't explain the "Five Mile" thing, though!

The keyword there is "spine." That's great. Connectivity is everything.
