Worst weekend/year of my life
Well, just when I thought this year could not get any worst, the dreaded happened this weekend, I guess I can't complain too much because I am still alive with no broken bones. In perth for 2 weeks, with work, brought my bike over as usual, decided a long ride by myself this weekend down to Rockingham and back. 8 Kilometres from Rockingham, I decided to stay on Stock Road and not use the coastal road, I was just enjoying the ride. Me going straight ahead, p-plater, young girl, turning across the main road, "did not see me", I had a whole second, to think about my wife, managed to break and turn the bike away from the front of the car and I and car came together, me onto bonnet, windscreen, roof then asphalt. I remeber being on the roof of the car and coming down onto the ashpalt, bike basically broke in 4 places, helmet, has split down the middle and back. Unbelieveably I have nothing broken, major grazing, on knees, legs, elbows, a sore left arm where I got the car and I think I managed to get the car as good as it got me, nothing left of the windscreen, bonnet has a me shaped dent in it as well. I was pretty much in shock straight afterwards, apparently I was swearing a lot and threw my broken helmet at the car, remembered this in the ambulance on the way to Fremantle hospital. A lady took care of me at the scene, man she was awesome and the ambulance lady was fantastic, basically only waited about 2 or 3 minutes for the ambulance to arrive. Doctors, nurses, policeman, witnesses are all amazed and stunned I had nothing broken, must be that gym work I do, strengthened those bones I have vivid image burned in my mind of sitting on the side of the road stareing at my hands and I said, I can't believe nothing is broken and a guy stood behind me, said, I can't believe you are still alive. My wife flew over and is having lots of fun, every day removing and putting on new bandages and is taking some sort of perverse pleasure in applying dettol. Once I get organised will post some pictures of a very sad and sorry looking bike and helmet and my minimal wounds. hope everyone else had a better weekend then me! I'm thinking of post-poning the rest of this year and going straight to 2007. -- MikeyOz |

MikeyOz wrote: snip unbelievable accident -- MikeyOz Hey Mikey, Very, very happy that you are relatively unscathed. Afetr I went through two "car vs me" stacks in 6 months, my physio -after seeing me come in for the 2nd round - said, "I don't know if you are the unluckiest or luckiest person I know!!". I think you've taken the title!! Good luck with recovery and subsequent processes!! Cheers, Abby |

Mate, don't bother with a Tatts ticket - I reckon you've used up a lifetime's supply of luck with this one incident! Glad to hear you're (mostly) ok ... bugger the bike, it's not important (relatively speaking). I'd expect insurance - or, failing that, the driver - to pay for a new one. May your recovery be swift and sure. -- My Usenet From: address now expires after two weeks. If you email me, and the mail bounces, try changing the bit before the "@" to "usenet". |
