This appears to be my only option for a fast, safe bike:

According to Grant, it comes with disc brakes:

I'm ordering today and waiting the 6-9 months because my safety is important.

Good! It's about time you became cool.

The extra down tube makes it 50% safer than your regular bike.

Given that the normal bicycle frame is comprised of 7 tubes wouldn't
adding one more make the formula something like 8/7, or only 14%
stronger :-?

We can argue the fine details, but either way, the conclusion has to be
SAFETY!

To a framebuilder, a complete boxed tube set is eleven tubes.

Crap. Now I'm really confused.
2 seat stays
2 chain stays
Seat tube
Bottom bracket (or doesn't this count as a tube?)
Top tube
Down tube
Head tube

And optionally
2 fork blades
Steerer

So I get either 9 or 12. Which piece is optional?

Not current production because I don't want a pogo stick. The headshock thing is not my cup of tea. The old model had funny steering geometry, but no springs, and it was fine when I dropped the stem a bit. I was really liking the bike before it got swiped.

Specialized also has the SCS (short chain stay) "technology" (i.e. incompatibility), so if you want to throw on OTC wheels from another manufacturer, you're screwed. With my old Roobay, I could swap a derailleur hanger, and that would allow me to use other wheels. The SCS technology was minimal on that bike. That isn't the case with the new through axle models. If I get a fast rain bike, it's going to be plain-Jane non-proprietary stuff. The Norco is like that -- to the extent that you can be plain-Jane with through axles. The standards are changing every ten minutes. I might just stick with the Norco -- or Oxy. There is a Norco epidemic you know.

For a rain bike, maybe a Secteur?

That's hard to quantify. If you look at tube sets over at
http://www.cycle-frames.com/bicycle-frame-tubing/TUBE-SETS/ they come
with nine tubes. Adding that extra tube would not add 50% safety, even
if the increase in safety is not linear.

But why would Jay stop at only a double down tube. There are also bikes
with dual top tubes.
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/0f/3f/f0/0f3ff0c0c4818eed30add4c508e5727a.jpg.
I've not seen a bike with dual top tubes AND dual down tubes, but I'm
sure a custom frame builder could do something like that.

I recall that there was one tandem manufacturer that put out a low end
model without the dual downtube, and with standard diameter steel tubes
and it was very squirrely. There are some newer models without the dual
downtube but they use much larger diameter aluminum tubes to compensate.
