Driver who killed a cyclist gets just under the maximum sentence.

It seems that a drunk driver not only killed a bicyclist, but that a
tape of her talking to a male friend came to light. She apparently
did not realize that telephone calls while in jail are recorded.

During the conversation, the man told Arrington that an acquaintance
believed she should get a medal and a parade because she had "taken
out" a "tree hugger, a bicyclist, a Frenchman and a gay guy all in one
shot."

Arrington laughed. When the man said he knew it was a terrible thing
to say, she responded, "No, it's not."

When the judge got wind of it, he was not amused and called the
conversation "breathtaking in its inhumanity." I guess she's not
laughing now that she's been sentenced.
