125mm stem HELP
HELP! I'm looking for a 125mm road stem (31.8 clamp) I've looked
around and can't find one. It doesn't seem as if QBP have any. Doesn't anyone out there at least know of any brands who if nothing else "claim" to make a 125mm stem? Preferably not carbon and not overpriced, not adjustable or anything silly like that. Someone told me the Deda Newton comes in a 125, but QBP don't seem to stock it. Any help much appreciated. cheers Sim Green |

I just did a QBP search at aebike.com for 125mm 31.8 clamp stems and it shows two adjustable (I know, not your preference) stems, one from Dimension, one from Oval Concepts. If you need something so specific as 125mm only, you should specify what rise angle you want since a given 130mm or 120mm stem might give you the same position at various rise angles and a rearrangement of the spacer stacking. |

Here's a tip, take a big dump for every race and if you're still not winning, hit the needle. 5mm is anal. |

Or, the OP could get a set of bars with a slightly longer reach and just use a 120. |

I can't change the frame, so I figured I'd go for a 125 stem. And I'm not a weight freak by any stretch of the imagination. I would just be better off, and in the same position as my preivous brand bikes on a 125mm. Thanks though. Sim |

125mm stem HELP
You idiots need to take an account the thickness of the bar wrap. Just a single mm difference in thickness can throw your entire position off ! What about the hydration of the person or whether they stretched or did heavy weights recently? The god damn measurments must be exact ! And every little change must be reameassured against the entire set up. I know two guys that died of spontaneous combustion caused by over heating in their helmets because they failed to ccount for the angle of incidence of the sun while traveling southwest in the spring at an inclination of 234.598 degrees for more than 3 minutes and 47 seconds. On the other hand I know several world champions that never even actually rode or trained at all but spent all of their time making sure their position was exact and making the changes neccesary to create the perfect position. Those gold medal are a testament to their wise decision to focus on this critical element. Don't make the same mistake and let any single measurement be off by more than .1 nanometer. And don't waste your time with high priced bike parts. A Schwinn stingray and a Leica laser measuring system is all you need. |

The only thing I've found is a Deda Newton, but it's apparently very rare in the US and I can't get hold of it over here either. Ugh. If only my frame were a "normal" size. Thank for all you're input. Sim Green |

125mm stem HELP
======
5mm IS anal. I know, nuts. I've been riding for a while both with 130mm and 120mm. I can't change the frame, so I figured I'd go for a 125 stem. And I'm not a weight freak by any stretch of the imagination. I would just be better off, and in the same position as my preivous brand bikes on a 125mm. Thanks though. Sim ====== As was pointed out previously, you *can* have your 125 measurement, by simply getting a stem with a different angle, and adjusting for the height difference by using spacers above or below it. A 130mm 17degree stem in the "up" position is likely go put you in-between (as in, about 125mm) a 120mm & 130mm 7degree stem (also in the "up" position). And, as somebody else pointed out, you could get a bar with a slightly-different forward reach. If you don't spend much time on the center straight part of the bar, this will work just as well as a different stem. Lots of ways to get there, once you've defined where "there" is. --Mike Jacoubowsky Chain Reaction Bicycles www.ChainReaction.com Redwood City & Los Altos, CA USA "Sim" wrote in message ...
