Achilles Pain/Swelling
Earlier in the year I was getting pain in my left achilles/heel area.
Saturday, I developed pain after 60 miles. Later, I noticed swelling. This was in the right achilles, the left is fine now. Sunday I went for a 50 mile ride on my hybrid but had no pain except from that suffered the day before. MY recumbent seat seems close enough to the pedals, as I have a slight bend to the knees at the bottom of my pedal stroke. Thanks for any advice. |

Since your feet are hanging with the Achilles down, there may well be more pressure on them than when riding an upright. Maybe try different shoes? The first time I had problems were with shoes, Saturday was in sandals. I may try without clicking in. Maybe it's a SPD issue. When I had the problem before, I alternated rides between the recumbent and the hybrid and it's not and issue with the left foot now. I just hate to try to ride through pain because doing that cost me dearly back when I used to run alot. |

Pain and swelling in the achilles tendon should not be ignored. Talk to your physician. This may be also a sign to get some rest |

As much as I hate to, I think I'll ride my hybrid and road bikes for a couple weeks and see what happens. |

I broke a crankarm 15 miles from home, so I got to coast on the bad leg today. |
