Good job he wasn't injured by being "doored".
Drivers should be more careful before flinging their doors open.

Oh so the motorist started it then.

"It is thought that the victim opened the door of his Jaguar car into
the path of three people cycling eastbound either hitting one or
forcing him to take avoiding action."

No doubt he is called a victim because the article was written by a
motorist.

A driving licence is a licence to kill.

opening a door was likely just accidental, and in any case the cyclist was
clearly too close and unable to stop in time, but punching someone to the
extent of putting him in hospital is clearly a quite deliberate act of
violence.

Opening the car door in that way is illegal:

Highway Code Section 239:

you MUST ensure you do not hit anyone when you open your door. Check for
cyclists or other traffic

Three ******* beat him up. It took three of them.
The ******* should know that they are supposed to be three feet away from a
parked vehicle in case the door is opened.

Yes, they should have known better than to expect a motorist to obey the
law about opening their car door.

Wrong Mr P.

"An argument appears to have followed during which *one* of the
cyclists knocked out the 52-year-old with a punch."
One punch.
Three people did *not* attack him.

Are you condoning the illegal actions of the driver that initiated it?

According to some here there was further contributory negligence by the
driver in not wearing a helmet which could have mitigated his head
injury.
