Pedestrians have the right-of-way at all intersections. You don't need a special
"crossing".

There is the legal right-of-way, and the real world right-of-way.

Pedestrians are prohibited from walking along or across all limited
access highways.

There are many busy main streets near industrial parks and shopping
centers where pedestrians are not really welcome, as they do not have
crosswalks, crossing lights, or other pedestrian amenities.

You can not generalize from your lifestyle to every other person in
every other place.
