Oh!

That's pretty flipping good looking! Sturdy but not too clunky, but
yet not too plasticky.

3 gears, blinking LEDs. I like that very much!

Silly paragraph about "the fear of more accidents". What fear? Would
they say that at the launch of a new car or opening a new road?
Cycling in London up 83%, accidents have halved in the same period!

I like that bike, that's very exciting.

Apparently one of the criticisms is that there aren't any helmets as well.
Who ever said that isn't actually thinking about the concept of the hire
scheme. The idea is that you turn up, wave your credit card (or
pre-booked over the interweb)at the machine and get a bike.
First off - where are the helmets to be kept while waiting for hire if
the scheme doesn't have yer actual humans loitering to help customers.
Second - by not providing helmets that are not checked for size and if
they are fitted correctly you remove the possibility of
ambulance-chasers bleating about 'clients not supplied or informed
correctly'.

The bikes look like they will be O.K. on the plains of Central London
but not exactly what you'd want for negotiating the surrounding hills.
Not that that's a bad thing as it will prevent them being taken out of
the area as it'll be just too much hard work.

Can't wait for them to arrive -- if there are moans now about CM, wait
until all them forriners start aimlessly meandering around the streets n
the centre of London.

I understand in Paris there's an imbalance because so many people
leave them at the bottom of hills.

The baskets on the Velibs look better, and I'm a little concerned about the
line in the report saying "LED front lamp" - what about the rear?

Hills? Paris? I guess there's Monmartre, but it's hardly Mont Ventoux

I always noticed a big drop-off in the number of cyclists just before
Archway Hill. The prospect of tackling the Norf Lundun Massive appeared
to be too much for many distant potential cyclists.
Not that that put off others but the difference in numbers of cyclists
was noticeable.
But still they came and tested themselves against a gentle slope having
got knackered whizzing past everyone else on Holloway Road, leaving the
older and wiser to overtake their sweating heaving bodies just before
the false summit at Suicide Bridge.

05.25 of the second film clip. Did someone really walk through the
water squirters that I hoped would soak the slick Mr Ranger?
