Horrible Crash Image
Today I was unlucky enough to be shown a harcopy photo of the results of an
accident that occured in Melbourne a while ago. A Ford Falcon station wagon was parked on the side of the road when a cyclist who was approaching at a great rate of knots with his head down managed to run into the back of it. Apparantly the guy looked up just as he hit the car (maybe when his front wheel hit??) and managed to hit just above the rear door (on the curved bit) with his chin. This resulted in his jaw moving a few inches to the side and he was in a pretty bad way. The guy in the car helped the cyclist out and after the ambulance had taken him away he took a photo of the resulting damage to the car - description as follows: The photo is a fairly close up shot of a chin-sized dent in the curved bit above the rear door. Now I would think that this section of the car would be pretty hard to dent but the dent from this guys chin looked to be a good inch or so deep - it actually looked like someone had hit the car really hard with a large sledge hammer and I would think that even with a sledgy it would be a hard task to make a dent that deep!! The police who attended the scene took some convincing before they believed the story of what had happened!!! On the bottom half of the dent there is some blood which was obviously a bit gory but then the guy pointed out the bit that really put a shiver up my spine......"See all those white things scattered on the roof - they are bits of the guys teeth!!" I immediately got that icky shiver down the spine feeling as there were at least 10 teeth (or fragments of teeth) scattered on the roof of the car within a foot or so of the dent!!!! The guy in the car didn't know all of the details of what injuries resulted but it was at least a seriously broken jaw and the loss of pretty well all of his front teeth!!! It was definitely not one for the squeamish to look at!!! Was wondering if anyone in here knew who the guy was and how he recovered (is recovering?) from the incident?? Stay safe and look up!! Gags |
