Default Basso ?

Anyone with any info regarding Basso ? He's no longer listed on CSC
main page of team riders, but is on another listing all their riders,
so I guess he is still at CSC, but doing nothing with the team. An
outcast pro who is not training at all ?

TIA

He is training, and he is still being paid by CSC - although I'm not sure
how much.

He has a hearing in front of the Italian cycling authorities at the end
of this month. The only charge against him is that he's mentioned in
Fuentes' paperwork; according to Suddeutscher Zeitung this week
(
http://www.sueddeutsche.de/,tt2m4/sp...kel/887/82805/)
Basso is mentioned explicitly by name in a Fuentes memo. Until this was
announced the link to Basso had been the name of a dog which the Spanish
police thought was the name of Basso's doc, but turned out not to be.
Also, references to an unnamed rider whose performance in the early
stages of the Giro was very similar to Basso's were made in intercepted
telephone calls between Fuentes and an associate.

Basso has not failed any drug test, and none of the blood seized by the
Spanish police in May has yet been shown to be his.

So there are, fundamentally, three possibilities:

(1) Basso was blood doping, which was Dr Fuentes speciality;
(2) Basso was buying some other service from Fuentes;
(3) Basso was not buying anything from Fuentes, but Fuentes claimed he
was, either as part of a betting fraud or for marketing purposes.

Fuentes was a well known expert on 'sports medicine', not just blood
doping. It's possible that some of his services were legal. However,
speaking as a Basso fan, it isn't looking good.
