Curious, are these on-road rides? I would like to try rechargables,
but tend to do some serious off-road bashing. I'm afraid a solution
such as the nut in the spring would not hold up to my abuse.
I don't find that even full sized alkaline C cells maintain a flicker-
free connection on my on-road commute without soldering them in...
Yep well, no such problem here. Bumpy wooden bridges and cobblestones,
too. Those are my results. I only point the way, it is up to others to
follow.

Just to confirm using 3W Lowe's TF flashlight with two AA's using AA C
adapters in it, nut held captive in positive terminal contact spring as
described in my earlier post in this thread.

I took a ride last evening after sundown to take a look at my son's new
apartment. A road trip, sure, but bumpy in places. Not a flicker on the
way back in the dark. The beam from this little flashlight is so tight and
bright that during the outbound trip it clearly illuminated stop signs
three blocks ahead, and this was during dusk, not even close to dark.

If you have a power outage and need a wide illumination, take the lens
off and dangle it from the center light in the room. Really will
light up the whole floor that way.

Thanks for the tip!

I finally broke down and bought the Lowe’s flashlight everyone has

hype, it’d still be good, and if not I could simply return it.

Remember the saying that used to be on the Rivendell web site:

"If you find something you really, really like, buy a lifetime supply;
because it'll either be changed for the worse or go out of production."

Note that there are some sub-$30 Cree LED flashlights sold at Wal-Mart
(2AA and 3AAA) under the Coleman Max labeling. However they have a
smaller lens and reflector than the Lowe's Task Force flashlight.

Yeah... that's the way it goes. Unfortunately $ is really tight
lately, I've got a lot going on personally plus my other hobby has
gotten completely out of hand lately. I'll try to grab a second, but
the dozen I'd like is out of the question. On the bright side,
flashlights keep getting better and better, so hopefully there'll be
something even better by the time this thing is done for.

In reply to both of the above posts... I know, I know. Heh. But
years back there was no such thing as Cree, or decent batteries.
Things do progress. Sometimes. OK, so I'll scrounge up some extra
cash and get 2 spares instead of one. If I had the coin kicking
around I'd buy 10 of them, no joke. But I don't. Damn hobbies.
Especially ones that involve leaving the ground. At least with bikes,
you can buy a bike and have it for a long time. Well, I suppose
that's the case with planes too, but you're constantly upgrading,
breaking things, and generally spending $. Like bikes. Wait. Er...
never mind.

Damn new hobbies. I've got a half dozen or more bikes, so at
least... er... well, maybe on a per-use basis... this is going
nowhere. I'll stick with "damn hobbies".
