Default Cheap advertising? Perhaps.

All the personal uproar is so ridiculous to me, that I look at this
NoCom fiasco as hilareous (but my name is not beingg dragged through
the coals and tieing me to Christopher Columbus or anything). My
calling a NoCom a "dime store toy" was indeed wrong, and I apologize
for that. I tend to think bringing up a name (good or bad) is a form
of cheap advertising. I wish recumbents make it into being "cheap dime
stroe toys" someday.

Flash, Ed Gin (NoCom) is not harmless. Everyone is counting on him to go
away. But what if he doesn't go away. What then?

Ed Gin could easily destroy this newsgroup. He is nothing but a vandal. What
you and I and Tom have worked at building up over the years could be taken
down in a trice. Where does this idea come from that vulgar spammers are not
destructive. You need to rethink your tolerance for this sort of thing.

I know Ed Gin for what he is because I have the intelligence to know how
fragile these newsgroups are. Explore the Google page for other newsgroups
and you will see how many are now dead and what they died of. If you do that
, it should sober you up to the danger we are in.

A kill file is only a half way solution and it will not prevent the death of
the group. Unless newbies keep coming in, the group will eventually die. An
asshole like Ed Gin will absolutely prevent any newbies from joining ARBR.
