Default Todays Giro in Naples

Incident on the Start/Finish straight today with circa 78km to go.
Guy from Euskatel lying still on the road, surrounded by some officials
and many cops, he was lifted up by the officials and while he was trying
to recover another cop thumped him on his arm or his back.
Guy from Lampre Merida also came off his bike in the spill and the cops
attacked him, one pushed him to the rail as if he was a spectator, and
the next cop started thumping him while he was in a dazed state and
trying to find a bike.
Is this typical of Italian race support?

It's Naples, those cyclists were behind on their bribe payments and
the cops let them know 'being late' is no longer an option. Typical
in Southern Italy.
