Default Q about D/A brake adjusters

It seems that I have inexplicably ruined two (rear) brake adjusters.
I'm sure that my corrosive sweat had much to do with the failures, but
I've never been too keen on the overall effectiveness of the squarish
adjuster on the 7700 series brakes anyway. I was wondering if anyone
has had a chance or is knowledgable enough to compare older with the
new D/A round adjusters and are they interchangable with older ones?

Thanks to all
