Default Trips for Kids Meet the Mt. Bike Pioneers Fundraiser Sunday December7, 2008

Mountain biking pioneers will support Trips for Kids’ at the 11th annual
“Brews, Bikes and Bucks” fundraising party on Sunday December 7th from
2-6 p.m. at the Broken Drum Brewery, 1132 Fourth Street in San Rafael.
Well known mountain bike pioneers such as Gary Fisher, Joe Breeze, Ned
Overend, Scott Nicol, Jacquie Phelan, Otis Guy, Charles Kelly, Ross
Shafer, Mert Lawwill, Chris Lang and other pioneers from the movie
“Klunkerz” will be guests at the event.

Bike-related prizes will be raffled throughout the afternoon. The grand
prize will be a dual suspension Jamis Dakar XCR Sport mountain bike
(retail value $1,475) donated by Jamis Bicycles. A silent auction will
include items, such as a 2009 Marin Bikes Alpine Trail 29er mountain
bike. The bikes will be on display at the Broken Drum Brewery. Advance
raffle tickets and auction signups are available at the Trips for Kids
bike thrift shop (610 4th Street, San Rafael) and at the Broken Drum.
There is no charge for admission, but Noah Berry, proprietor of the
Broken Drum Brewery, will also donate proceeds from food and drink sales
to Trips for Kids.

Each year Trips for Kids takes hundreds of inner-city kids from the Bay
Area on guided mountain bike adventures, many of whom have never been
outside of their urban neighborhoods. In 1999 Trips for Kids became a
national program. There are now 65 chapters operating in the United
States, Canada and Israel.. All proceeds from our sale will go to
support this great cycling program. If you miss the sale, please note
that the Re-Cyclery Bike Thrift Shop at 610 4th Street in downtown San
Rafael is open throughout the year Tuesday - Friday noon - 6 p.m., and
Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Mountain biking ought to be made illegal! Anyone who thinks mountain biking
is an OK thing to do needs to read the posts of the Great Mike Vandeman on
RBS. All mountain biking does is ruin the trails for hikers and wild life.
The original cyclists who went into the mountains on bicycles are all a
bunch of no good *******s. Instead of being celebrated, they should be
horsewhipped. God damn their rotten souls all the way to Hell and back!
