No, at least my old Nuovo Record ('69) had sleeve bearings. They lasted a
long time, though.


The steel Gran Sports and Records had ball bearings in the steel wheels.

The derailleur was chromed brass and the idlers were, as you say,
steel with adjustable ball bearings for which there is a special black
steel flat wrench. The wheels were round when new and developed
closely spaced cusps where the chain rollers bore on the periphery.
The spacing indicated that the circumference was not a whole multiple
of the chain pitch.
