I keep thinking it'd be really cool (TM) to build one of these up with either a modern STI drivtrain (and some really bling wheels, Mavic Carbone's maybe) or as a fixed-gear around town bike. Day dreaming on a Friday, Ken k7fle at yahoo dot com Which one of my three baby blue Schwinn Mixte frames would you like? ;-) I have a purple Nishiki one, and a purple Centurion one, or best of all is my new-old-stock mint condition purple-and-white Fuji one which by the way is indexed and ready to ride, converted to a light trail bike, I'm saving it for the day I get so old and stiff that I can't swing my leg over the saddle and have to cooch in kinda sidesaddle. Pick one! Something around 21" I suppose. Couldn'y you see showing up at the local Crit race on a Mixte all tricked out? grin Yeah, OK, I'm a little sick & twisted. http://www.geocities.com/k7fle/NewPaint (I rode this around the country like this - 9,333 miles in 11 days) There seem to be a number of Raleigh and Schwinn's here in Portland that would make great donor frames. As if I don't have enough projects (and too little time as it is!) Ken http://tworao.blogspot.com/ |

I might be interested in this bike I had one as a child.
Beautiful and nostalgic 1965 (maybe 1964?) Schwinn Super Spo*rt 10-speed road bike. Hand-made fillet-brazed frame. Very well* made and a sweet responsive ride, as it should be since it was made a*longside the Paramounts by the same frame builders. In fine cosmetic *and mechanical condition. Ridden lightly but often. Could use ne*w cables and tuneup, but you could also just top off the tires and go*. Uses 27" tires, Schrader valves, easy to find, right now equipped wit*h 1-1/4 knobbies suitable to ride the East Valley hardpack canal tra*ils. Original ancient Brooks leather saddle can be included guara*nteed to put a brown stain on your shorts even if your shorts are bla*ck. Color is the lovely Schwinn Radiant Coppertone, still pretty vibra*nt after all these years, paint and decals not too shabby for a forty* year old bike. Make offer, or will trade for ??? Very interesting r*ead about Schwinn lightweights of this and later years Please email me at themelungeon (at) yahoo (dot) com |
