what campagnolo lockring do I need?
Hello,
I am trying to adapt some new campagnolo parts to my old 8 speed bike since the rear hub is broken. I have acquired a new rear hub and a new 9 speed cassete and I was planning to use 8 gears of this new cassete with my old 8-speed spacers. I have bought the parts separately and have noticed that the lockring from the cassete does not fit the hub, and neither the old lockring. The new lockring is smaller and the older is larger. After some research I found out that the old is 28mm, the new is 26mm and the hub is probably 27mm. Everything ok, just preparing to search for a 27mm lockring on the net, but then I found out that there are 2 types of 27 mm lockrings. (see: http://www.branfordbike.com/cassette/cog18.html). "One with a 38.5 mm flange for cassettes that start with a 12 tooth or larger cog. Another with a 35.2 mm flange that is for cassettes with an 11 tooth first position cog." In my case the new cassete starts with an 11T. Does that matter to me, since anyway I will use an adaptation with different spacers? Thank you, Len |
