He needs a proprietary Mavic aluminum insert shaped roughly like a .40ACP with a hole through it. http://www.atk.com/wp-content/upload..._1-Pkg.jpg.jpg -- Andrew Muzi www.yellowjersey.org/ Open every day since 1 April, 1971 ....................... didnah think of that.... my search time was uh 15 minutes. incroyable. No Mavic's here. Maybe he works for the NSA ? |

Thanks Mr. Muzi. I suspect you are joking but it may not really a bad thought.
2 questions for you: Do you think that the lead keep it's shape under stress? Do you think I could use a Dremmil tool without getting lead poisoning? Thanks again! Andrew's a gunsmith. He's surrounded by gangs of drunken farmers and college students.
try the washer route with a touch of silicone grease. or call Sherex after using a micrometer on the one's you have Sherex may supply eyelets/inserts/collars.... I'ts unknown, to me, if the rim people have a eyelet machine or buy from outside. |

Do you think I could use a Dremmil tool without getting lead poisoning? I was trying to explain it to Gene, could not find an image of the part and thought a .40ACP showed the shape closely enough. Could you make one from a chunk of aluminum or lead? Probably yes, depends on the value of your time. I would use a lathe. A drill and a file would be quicker than a small rotary burr I think. -- Andrew Muzi www.yellowjersey.org/ Open every day since 1 April, 1971 |

find metal....aluminum ? abt drill hole size of the other eyelet holes.
cut a hexagon out using visegrips or screw the piece down thru the hole with a small sharp triangular file, cut 2 parallel notches either side hole so the outer surface leg ends connect. file the remaining flat surfaces down a bit to the connecting leg apex stands by itself take a pin slip size of the hole n place it into the rim hole opposite rim's valve hole. slip the washer onto the pin rub a black sharpie fekt pen on the 2 apexes push washer onto rim then there are two blacklines on rim...eyeyehahahha not likely but WTH right ? file a notch into the rim onto the lines. the washer now mates to rim roughen the two mating surfaces with sandpaper in a cross hatch clean with CHOH apply dab of quality metal epoxy both surfaces see WEST or Walmart/Home Depot mate with pin, grease pin lightly or drop in spoke and lightly greased nipple hang rim with nipple up allow to dry. paint epoxy seams...lightly. |
