Trainer tires
Hey Cyclists,
Just came back from one of my pilgrimages to the bike shop and saw a tire made for riding on a trainer. Are these things hogwash? Couldn't I just use an old tire or is there some benefit that I'm missing here? Bung -- "The ability to quote is a serviceable substitute for wit." -- Maugham |

The "trainer" tires are made of a different rubber compound, one that wears a lot better under the higher temps that a trainer creates. It's not a compound you'd want to ride on the road though, so they're often a different color (bright orange, for the Continentals). You can use any cheapie tire on a trainer though. The main point is to not use a high-quality tire, because you're going to burn through it rather quickly, and why burn through an expensive tire when a cheap one will probably last longer (and save a lot of $$$)? --Mike Jacoubowsky Chain Reaction Bicycles www.ChainReaction.com Redwood City & Los Altos, CA USA "Bung" wrote in message .com...
