Default Car use falling in Welsh capital.

Story of how car use in Cardiff is falling and other means of transport,
including cycling is soaring. Interesting that 75% of the drivers surveyed
described driving as "hell" so it is no wonder they are ditching their cars
in such numbers.

Is there a Labour Council in Cardiff? The report mentions massive
road works and the introduction of new bus lanes. All familiar Labour
ploys to make motoring hell for drivers and to justify congestion
charging!

I drove into Hull for the first time in many years yesterday and parked up
at a spare meter. Last time I had been there, parking was free on a Sunday,
so I checked the meter which now said I had to pay. I had no cash and had to
drive 2 miles away and park for free, then walk in. Plenty of parking
wardens were around as well.

Bloody road works, I'd just leave it alone, spend the money on something useful.

No, the council is formed with : Liberal Democrats 35 seats, Conservative
17, Labour 13, Plaid Cymru 7, Independant 3

Lib Dems formed an alliance with Plaid Cymru to gain overall control.
Difficult to blame Labour for this one!

A picture of straightforward unnecessary (and therefore completely
vindictive) oppression.

That depends on how long it's been going on for.

The whole "soak drivers and make their lives hell" approach is straight
modern British socialism at its worst.

Think David Begg (Labour) - if you can bear to.

Well, Labour lost control 6 years ago. I think that's enough time to change
any anti-car policies Labour may have had.
If you read the article I think you will find that most of the complaints
are centred around from about one year ago..

Who was in control after Labour lost it?

I didn't feel "oppressed". I merely parked legally and walked the extra
distance.
It was a sunny day and I enjoyed the walk.
