My brake cable runs under the top tube with no beads. While the many areas of the frame are dinged, scratched, and chipped, the top tube remains pristine. Derk I use 3M paint protection film for cars on the parts of my frames where I dont want the cable to rub through the paint on the frame. Its completely clear so maybe you could cut a long thin piece and stick it on the underside of the top tube? you wouldn't need the donuts then. I went to a local automotive window tint store and asked if they had any offcuts, they gave me heaps of it, so much I still have heaps left I works a treat. Cheers Dre |
