"Sponsoring the Tour de France fits our strategy. If I exaggerate it,
we have one half of Europe covered by hockey, and the other half by
cycling," Vratislav Kulhanek, head of Skoda's supervisory board, told
the Czech daily Hospodarske Noviny.

"I do worry about doping, but I care more about watching (Kazakh
Alexander) Vinokourov appearing on the news four times and an
accompanying Skoda being seen behind him four times."

He should present it as buying a Skoda is like doping. It makes you faster
than everyone else who hasn't got a Skoda. At least until the Skoda breaks
down, then you've got to get a Trabant.

Several years ago, right after Richard Virenque admitted to doping "a
l'insu de son plein gre," a chain of French optical stores had a full-
page newspaper ad that said, "Alain Affelou: Official supplier to
Richard Virenque." Then, in little letters at the bottom it added,
"Supplier of his sunglasses."

Next Ferrari will become Hincapie's official sunglass supplier.
