Default Cateye HL-EL500 vs. HL-EL510 Headlights?

I use four EL500's for commuting

spreading the aim points out. You can get away with one
if it's really dark, but oncoming headlights and other
lights compete too much with the illumination from
a single EL500, and you're blind to pot holes until
it's dark again.

Then again you can get away with zero if it's really
dark and the moon is out and there's no traffic, which
I occasionally do.

That's why I use a Princeton Tec EOS 1 watt LED on the helmet. When the
brights are right in your face, you can put the beam from your helmet, right
in front of the front tire, and not hit anything. But without it, you're
blind, like you said.
