Brake, cable housing, and no brake lever. What were they thinking?

Nowt wrong with that. Fasten inner wire to handlebar( or clamp),
leave outer loose. Brake by pulling on outer. Satisfies requirement
to have two independant braking systems. After all,you can always use
a leather glove to brake on a tyre without mudguards.

Current fixie fashion is a top lever (obscured by the stem
in the artist's composition)

'Current' fixie fashion here in the Republic is flat bars, cut off
except for 4 inch 'stubs' on either side of stem, Deep Vs of various
colors, obama adverts in the spokes, sister's black jeans(gotta be
TIGHT), hair-doo like the guy on American Idol right now...no cycling
skills or smarts at all. No brakes, ride to somewhere, talk to other
'hipsters', smoke.....

Depending on you how you score it, that sounds like somewhere between 1
out of 10 and 3 out of 10.

Biggest question is how did she get such powerful biceps and triceps,
rivalling Michele Obama, and not have the quads? She's not a cyclist,
'spec not a singlist. It took me a lot of looking to think of this
question!
