Chris Horner
I think that it is amazing that Chris Horner came from essentially nowhere
to be a real force in the Tour in his very first try. This bodes well for the next two which I suspect is all he'll do. |

When he went to Europe last fall I was disappointed that I would not be able to get to see him race and never expected that he would even make the TDF team. When he broke his leg this spring I was certain that he wouldn't make the TDF team, but he must have worked his ass off, and he has had a strong tour. It has been fun to watch. |

I mean, he did absolutely no racing between the early spring and the USPro. Then he gets to Europe just in time to look good, win a stage , and be in the mix in several other stages of the Tour of Suisse. Now, he has spanked some serious team leaders who have focused their entire season on the Tour, and they're all behind Horner. Look at the names below who are all down on time: Overall Standings 34. Christopher Horner (USA), Saunier Duval, 1:03:12 42. Michael Rogers (Aus), Quickstep, 1:19:14 45. Roberto Heras (Sp), Liberty Seguros, 1:31:22 58. Iban Mayo (Sp), Euskaltel-Euskadi, 1:58:04 59. Sylvain Chavanel (F), Cofidis, 1:58:19 77. Joseba Beloki (Sp), Liberty Seguros, 2:19:17 |

Sitting in 34th behind AG2R's Setphen Goubert doesn't qualify as being "really a force". He's done a great job to turn around his season, but he's just another name who's been in a couple of breakaways. |

"Remember all the hype about Julich? "
What is more annoying to me is the hype from certain Anglophones about Michael Rogers. Has he ever done anything good except the Olympics? Yawn....... -Ken |

Joseba Beloki (Sp), Liberty Seguros, 2:19:17 He didn't spank these people, they effectively spanked themselves and will have to answer to their teams, sponsors and fans for their failure, wheras Horner had few burdens placed upon him at the start and has done very well. |
