Tour of Somervillle
does anyone know the reason that they inverted the course,
making the backstretch into the finish? was that the only difference in 05's event? hey - thanks for reading. e-RICHIE |

I heard there was likely to be construction on some buildings on the
old frontstretch that might interfere with setup for the race or spectating over there. Certainly a number of buildings were closed and boarded up as if something was going on. The change seemed pretty OK to me from a racer and spectator point of view. Certainly it was less a big change than when they added that sharper corner a few years ago. JT |

I live and race locally. The Somerville township rec director (also
coach/team organizer of CRCoA) told us that it was a business issue. Shops on Main Street refused to kick in sponsorship $$$ despite the fact that they benefit greatly on race day. Relocated the S/F to the backstretch and had local civic organizations run the concessions to redistribute the profit to more deserving groups. |

Good. The biz owners always acted like bloodsuckers anyways. Also,
the people who own the houses on the backstretch deserve a good show. Lou D'Amelio wrote: I live and race locally.
