Their scheme seems to be, "if you worked hard and made a lot of money, we want some" :-) So you think that people on minimum wage should fund the government while people paid (note I didn't say earn) more per hour than some people get all year, should get off scot free! This conversation is fractionally above the Bananamonkey's level of sophistication only because it is not illiterate as well as stupid. On the other hand, it is innumerate. Someone who earns a 1000 pounds an hour earns 8,760,000 a year. Not a lot of those to tax, no matter how spiteful the little pols become. Even fewer who earn 87,600,000 a year, which in an hour would be 10,000 pounds, a poverty-level income. Try doing some arithmetic, Ian. Without it, you are dealing in the wet dreams of a class of socialism that went into the shredder in 1990 when the Berlin Wall fell. Andre Jute Realist |

On the other hand where is the justice in someone that worked hard and saved his money being charged more then those who spent all their earnings on booze and broads? Many of these high 'earners' have multiple directorships that each take up a few hours of their time per week - most of the rest of the time they're playing golf or sailing their yacht nowhere in particular. And many of them earned it. Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson, for example, who has stated that his first business venture was selling bootleg CD's or Freddy Laker, who was expelled from grammar school, Or Billy Connelly, for God's sake. Left school at 15 and went into the shipyard as a an apprentice. The concept that there is something ennobling about drinking at the pub while your wife works to support you that seems to be largely conceived by politicians in order to gather votes. By the way, I worked all my life and I own a "yacht" :-) -- Cheers, John B. (gmail=invalid) |
