I need to build a trike that will cary as much as a BOB
trailer....Or a trike that will hold a BOB.

Need plans, if not a book on building recumbents....

What does it take? time, money, and too much brain power?

somthing like the suncycle EZ-3AL at
http://www.cambiecycles.com/sun.html

From my experience from building several bikes. You can buy much better
than you can build, and cheaper.

Building your own is a labor of love. I am a good welder and fabricator
and have built some nice bikes. My TE Clone is nice but it won't hold a
candle to Gardner's product.

Figure on your labor at minimum and your investment in time, tools and
materials is going to add up to more than "take out". This is especially
if you choose to use aluminum.

I am looking into getting a nice GTAW rig and taking some night classes
on how to use it.

Just the plain EZ3 in steel would be a good choice and the EZ3al would
be a great choice for an affordable trike, in my not so humble opinion.
If you want real utility you might look at Lightfoot's trikes. They seem
to be real utility vehicles capable of hauling whatever you are stout
enough to pedal.

Building is FUN. But not economical.

Jerry

Here's a book:
http://www.powells.com/cgi-bin/bibli...2-0071422676-0

There's plans listed on the IHPVA site or you can buy them from
Greenspeed. Most trikes can tow a BOB trailer without a problem.

Projects like this always take time, money, and brainpower. Using
less of one will require more of the other two.

I bought my CT-S red from Thomas Abbott
for 349$ + S&H and THEN he offered me the supposed black prototype
TrikeE [1F2R] but by then I was tapped out.

I'll be cannibalizing the BikeE for its 24 speeds [3 speed axle and 8
speed cassette] for Mother's Trike. You can find it at:
