QUOTE

"A cyclist has told how she was badly injured when she hit an open manhole which was apparently awaiting repairs on a cycle superhighway in London.

Katrina Kersey needed four rounds of surgery on her right arm after breaking her elbow in the cycling crash several years ago.

Mrs Kersey was later awarded damages after it apparently took several weeks for the manhole to be repaired after the accident."

She must have been very pleased to have won a "jackpot" which involved
sustaining all those injuries and having "four rounds of surgery".

If the cyclists took more care they would avoid such road hazards,
particularly since they are in the same location every day, alternately
they could use more viable transport.

I expect some do, but at least they could avoid crashing all over the
place in the mean time.

It seems that the "jackpot" was awarded after all those injuries and having "four rounds of surgery". When compared to the possibility of not receiving a penny, it must have felt like a "jackpot" to the hapless Ms Kersey.

If she could not see such a huge hole as a completely open manhole, then
one must question whether she should be using any personal transport
device in public. As it is on a 'cycle way' it does not even blend in
to the road colour.
