Bikes on Greyhound?
I've been wondering about something. I'm contemplating a long ride,
my first, which would entail riding a Greyhound bus about three hundred miles, then debarking and riding 400 miles home. Anyone here ever done a stunt like this? What kind of rigamrole would I have to go through to take along a bike and a Nomad trailer as my luggage? TIA, Bill __o | _`\(,_ | Subvert the fuel-based-transportation paradigm! (_)/ (_) | |

Bikes on Greyhound?
I looked into this last year for a similar tour.
Greyhound required the bike's handlebars and pedals be removed *and* it be boxed up. The local station *may* have boxes, but don't count on it. Same thing with the panniers or trailer: if it's not something 'normal' like a suitcase or duffel bag it has to be boxed up, according to the dimensions on their site. IFIC the cost was a little over $125 per person with a $50 fee per bike. So we were looking at $175 for a 300-mile bus ride per person. We thought about the idea of paying someone a $100 or so to drive us the 300 miles and save some money. We ended up ditching that tour idea and going with something different, but if the boxing up isn't an issue I suppose the hassle is only when you're getting on the bus - joel On Fri, 09 Jul 2010 22:22:17 -0600, wrote: I've been wondering about something.
