West Bromwich road rage attack left cyclist with broken bones

A cyclist was punched and knocked from his bike during a shocking road rage attack in West Bromwich.

The victim was left with a broken nose, cheekbone and thumb after being assaulted on Friday, May 8. It's believed the cyclist was followed by a man in a silver Audi, who verbally abused him before hitting him in the face, causing him to fall from his bike.

The motorist is thought to have drove (SIC) away in the direction of Sandwell and Dudley Railway Station. Police say the cyclist, who required hospital treatment for his injuries - including an operation on his thumb - is now recovering at home.

Anyone who witnessed the attack, which happened at the junction of Bromford Lane and Credenda Road at about 4.30pm, is urged to come forward.

Investigator Rebecca Kendall from West Midlands Police's CID, said: “This is a really nasty roadside assault which resulted in the cyclist suffering a number of broken bones. "I’m asking people who may have been in the area at the time to think back and let us know if they remember seeing anything or even have dashcam footage which may help our enquiries."
