What do you call out when you come up behind pedos?
I used to just ... you know ... squeak my brakes ... but I decided that
was a bit arogant. I have had a lot of success simply calling "cyclist". It's not presumptive. Simply stating a fact. I could honk my horn or ring a bell. I have tried whistling. All of these things are great in theory, but they never really convey the message. Of course ... if it's some prick walking a dog off a leash ... I just buzz them ... -- -------------------------- Posted via cyclingforums.com http://www.cyclingforums.com |

What do you call out when you come up behind pedos?
On several occasions, I have found one or two people, late at night, in their sleeping bags, right in the middle of offroad bikepaths. When I tried to reason with them, about how dangerous it was for both them and bikers, they always showed no concern. Then, when I whipped out a cell phone and pretended to call the police, they all skedaddled without delay. The phone didn't even work-----it was just the carcass of one I had found, lying on the road. I could have used an electric razor or a camcorder battery, just as well. Steve McDonald |

What do you call out when you come up behind pedestrians?

Perhaps you come and go without noticing people's reactions. I'm betting that most people who get passed unexpectedly have a similar reaction to the ones I described. This could be a good reason for pedestrians using a multi-use path to get angry with cyclists. How about baseball cards in the spokes? That would alert people to the presence of a cyclist... BFG Now that is an interesting idea. I'm sure my daughter would love to see some playing cards in the spokes of the trailer, but the constant noise would certainly hamper the communication between us. -Buck Even if it's startling, I think most people appreciate some sort of heads up. More than once people have thanked me as I've passed. A little communication goes a long way both on the trail and the road. |
