A question on race tactics.
Suppose a strong rider is in a break. Call him Edvald Boasson Hagen. He is also subject to team orders. Could he hurt the break by attacking and help the chasing peloton catch the break? -- Old Fritz |

Good question, it seems to be a win win situation, if he gets away and makes it stick he wins, if the rest of the break catch him after having to ride they are hurt. So they caught him and he sat up till the bunch caught up with him. Later him and Wiggins ride like **** to catch the break and he performs a high speed launch of Cavendish who finishes so fast that several of the breakaway riders stop pedalling as he goes by. Of course it's easy to say all this retrospectively, the question is of course did Sky plan it with these options in mind...I vote yes. -- |
