Brake pad dilemma
I acquired a commuter/touring frame set up for V brakes. I'm using 32c
tires, so need pretty good clearance between the pads to remove the wheels. The problem I'm having is that the pads hit the seat stays and fork blades. I cut the pads to get the needed clearance but ended up with screeching brakes, presumably due to the imbalance of pad material on either side of the pad post. I've not seen or heard of any extenders to move the brake arms farther away from the stay/blade, so what recommendations are there to be able to rotate the arms farther away from the tire when the cable is detached? TIA, Carl |

With your average hybrid that runs vees, you should easily be able to remove a 35mm tire anyway. Sounds like you have tight frame clearances or an unusually thick brake pad. What frame and which pad? If the pads are pretty thick--something like a Kool-Stop thinline may solve your problem. |
