Default Shoe repairs

I have a pair of shimano touring shoes a bit like these:

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/images/shimano%20shrt30.jpg

which are quite comfortable and nice to ride in.

I have recently replaced the cleats as the old ones had worn a fair bit. The
new cleats now stick out from the sole by a couple of mm or so. Its ok when
riding but can be a bit skatey on some floor and could really mess up a
wooden floor. I guess the sole has worn a fair bit.

Has anyone tried getting the soles of cycling shoes repaired? I remember
that in the days when we all wore proper shoes you could get new leather or
rubber soles. Has anyone managed to do similar with cycling shoes?

In case you are the one who asked me this question last week in the
greenwich foot tunnel and you ddin't follow my description of where the
cobbler in Blackheath was, it is here

http://streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll...176161&A=Y&Z=1

He doesn't front onto the street, you need to go down a short
passageway between the clotes shop on ther corner and the hedge. IME
he is skilled /and/ cheap. I would ask him what he thinks

best wishes

On hard soled racing shoes, I've had success glueing on rubber blocks
at the toe and heels just to silence the cleats and give a bit more
grip while walking over hard floors (marble foyer in an office building
I used to work in). I cut the pieces from an old car fan-belt, glued
them on with Araldite - it worked well.

I'm sure you could do somthing similar adding a thinner patch each side
of the cleat, just to lift the the area at the ball of your foot and
the cleat a bit more. It'd also want to be thin and carefully placed
to ensure that you could still click in OK.

A cobbler or heel bar would have rubber stock, glue etc. in hand, but
the last time I got a pair of regular shoes resoled (glueing and rubber
sole on over the original worn leather sole, it was touch and go
whether it was worth getting done or getting a new pair of shoes.

I think Andy lives in Cleckhuddersfax, a L-O-N-G way from Blackheath.

Well in that case he isn't a million miles away from LSR. They are in
Burnley and specialise in walking boot and running shoe repairs.

As Helen pointed out I live up north and don't go to London very often.

We don't go over there very often, worse than London.

At least it's still oop t' North. :-)

However they do repairs by post. I would send them a letter with some
pictures and see what they think.

Thanks, I'll try a local shoe repairs and if they can't I'll contact LSR.

Good grief, your war with Lancashire finished more than 500 years ago!
Hasn't there been a Truth and Reconciliation Commission yet?
