A mountain biker has been rushed to hospital after being seriously injured in a crash.

The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was called to Whakarewarewa Mountain Bike Park, where a 17-year-old male had serious injuries after crashing his bike.

A spokesperson says a fellow rider raised the alarm when he discovered the injured biker yesterday afternoon.

“He was flown to Waikato Hospital in a serious but stable condition..”
